The IPW Challenge: Saving Mother Earth

Photobucket

The school has been working together to make the IPW another exciting event this year!

From the Board to the Principal to the Committee Heads and to the teachers, thoughts and opinions have been shared to finalize plans for the Inter-disciplinary Project Work (IPW) 2010-2011.

All the meetings and the discussions have now come to their fruition and we've finally launched the Piaget Academy Projects Festival 2010-2011!

Students have been briefed this week by our Committee Heads: Marcus (Secondary Schol) and Lourdes (Primary School). The students seem excited and brimming with ideas on how to best work on their projects! Students from Primary 4 onwards will take part in this event and some projects will be featured in the Grand Opening of NH*JIPS this coming February!

The theme for this year is quite timely and will never lose its favor as it focuses on our own survival. Saving Mother Earth has always been a challenge the generations face.

Our Primary 4 students will be taking this on through using recycled material in creating cartoon characters based on the PIAGET Values.

The Primary 5 students will need to develop a Green School of the Future using our campus as their base.

The Primary 6 students will need to Promote (and Sell) Renewable Resources to the Public.

Our students are starting to get their gear on to face their tasks on hand - and when they get on full swing, our imaginations better get a hold on their hats and have a firm grip on the rails as we just might get all blown away with the students' answer to this call.

Mother Earth, hold on as your new heroes get ready to save the day!

Reading, Listening, Learning

Photobucket
Silent Reading Time at the Auditorium

Education was never just about the classroom and everything learned inside it. It didn't really just delve into specific concepts learned at specific ages with corresponding examinations and marks given. All that has a place in school, ofcourse, but Education... oh, Education is all about learning!

Learning to invite words into our lives, enriching our vocabulary and imagination in the process...

Do you know how strong the correlation between reading and intelligence is? You can read an article on this here.

Learning to open our hearts as well as our minds when we discuss life concerns with people who encourage us to be good - not just good at anything but the basic no-nonsense good we should all be within ourselves.

Youth Pastor, Steve Lunn, speaks about The Myth of Adolescence.

It is always wonderful to see students everywhere - all ages, all walks of life, all sharing, all learning, altogether.

what we dance for

It's always good to see families in school.  Moms, Dads, Grandparents, siblings, and nannies all trooping around school while enjoying the activities set up for them!

After the games, everyone was invited to the cafeteria for some delicious food brought by everyone to share.

When night started to slowly descend, everyone re-grouped for the lantern parade.  The lanterns all lit up against the dark was a beautiful sight to behold!
