Last 18 April (Monday), we celebrated “Hari Kartini” in NHJS. It is a very important celebration in Jakarta.
“Hari Kartini” is a day to celebrate a very special woman, Raden Ayu Kartini. She is the hero(ine) of all women as she showed us how we can learn and grow in school like our male counterparts.
During our celebration at NHJS, we performed songs, skits and presentations to show how “Hari Kartini” came to be.
We had a flag raising ceremony which is also called the “Upacara Bendera”. Then, we had the Primary 1 and 4 sing “Kasih Ibu” and “Bunda”.
The Secondary 1B’s presentation called “Ibu Kita Kartini” and their very entertaining drama about Kartini’s life followed next.
We then had the Primary 6 class sing us a song called “Kartini”.
The Secondary 2 Michelangelo’s special homemade movie about Kartini’s life topped the performances off.
It looked like the audience found the whole Kartini Day performance very entertaining. We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!
