Today’s blog entry is written by SuBin, NHJS Prefect and Primary 6 student. Her reflections on being school prefect are interspersed with pictures from the NHJS Prefect Investiture Ceremony. (Photography by Ms Ong, Discipline Committee Member)
When I found out I was chosen to become a prefect, I hesitated taking on the responsibility. I thought that it would be a hard job to become a prefect. However, I also knew that there would be a lot of advantages, so I decided to try.
When the prefects first met, I learned a lot of new things about becoming a role model in school. I felt that I made a good decision to become a prefect. I knew that I had to be disciplined.
Now that I am a prefect, I try not to make a lot of mistakes and always do my duties.
When I first went on duty, I felt nervous. I was in charge of the back gate of our school. When late-comers came, I gave out late slips for them to fill up. After finishing my job, I felt very good!
When it came to the day of the Prefect Investiture Ceremony, all the prefects had to go up on stage and receive the letter of appointment from Mr. Colin.
We, the prefects, had to recite the pledge of the Prefectorial Board.
When we were done, I unscrolled the letter of appointment to read.
That was when I knew that I had completed and passed all the requirements needed to be a member of the NHJS Prefectorial Board.
I felt very happy. I really wish I could be a good role model of my school and I will always try and do my best to make my school a better one!
